Career Education seeks to integrate academic and career-technical education as a way to improve students’ occupational skill levels while strengthening their basic and higher order thinking abilities. With a national annual budget of $13 billion and 139 occupational areas, Career-Technical Workforce Education reaches 11 million students every day through an extensive network of 15,000 secondary and 6,500 postsecondary educational institutions. New Mexico serves 55 secondary schools and 14 postsecondary institutions.
